North State Paving was built by paving contractors, not salespeople. Between them, Sylvester Piona and Michael Steven bring decades of hands-on experience — the kind you only get from years on the crew, laying real asphalt in real conditions across the Bay Area.

They started the company on a simple idea: that most paving problems come down to shortcuts taken on the base, the grade, or the mix — and that a crew who genuinely cares about the craft will outlast the lowest bidder every time. That belief still runs every job we take.

Today, Sylvester and Michael are on-site and hands-on, holding every driveway, parking lot, and roadway to the same standard they'd want on their own property. When you hire us, you get the people whose names are on the company — not a subcontracted crew you've never met.
